Board of Education Special Meeting Scheduled
The OESJ Board of Education will hold a Special Board of Education Meeting on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at 6:30 P.M. in the High School Auditorium.  The board will be meeting to approve both the BOCES and OESJ budgets.

The Second Annual Ben Conte Memorial Baseball Tournament originally scheduled for Saturday, April 11, 2015, has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 18. 2015.

OESJ Seeks Volunteers to Help with Election

The district is seeking volunteers to help on the day of the election, May 19, in both the DHR Elementary School and the OESJ Elementary/Middle School, to serve as poll workers. Two helpers are needed for two hour shifts beginning at noon on Tuesday, May 19 and ending at 8:00 p.m.  The poll workers help direct voters to the privacy booths and to the voting machine and must be district residents.  Lunch, dinner and beverages are provided for the poll workers.

OESJ Central School District Spring Break Begins This Week

The OESJ Central School District will begin Spring Break on Friday, April 3, 2015.  Thursday, April 2, 2015 will be the last day of classes for students prior to Spring Break.  Classes will resume following Spring Break on Monday, April 13, 2015.

Absentee Ballots Available

Residents who will not be in the area on May 19 or otherwise unable to vote in person may apply for an absentee ballot at the District Office or able to be downloaded here. If the absentee ballot is to be mailed to the voter, the application must be submitted no less than seven days prior to the vote. If the absentee ballot is to be picked up by the voter in person, applications will be accepted and absentee ballots may be issued until May 18.  Completed absentee ballots must be turned in to the District Clerk by 5:00p.m. on the day of the vote, May 19.

OESJ Central School District Gearing Up for the District Election

The district budget and candidate vote will take place on May 19, in both the DHR Elementary School and the OESJ Elementary/Middle School from noon to 8 p.m.  On the ballot, the voters will be asked to approve the budget for the 2015-16 school year, approve the establishment of a capital reserve fund, and elect board member candidates to fill two open positions.  


Board candidate petitions are available here at this time.  Candidates are encouraged to read the information sheet (available here) that goes along with the petition and if they have further questions to contact Anna O'Connell, District Clerk, at anna.oconnell@oesj.org or 518-568-2014 ext. 104.  Petitions are due back to Anna by April 20, 3:00 p.m.

OESJ to Continue with Voter Registration

The district residents of the OESJ CSD are reminded that in order to vote in the district election on May 19, they need to be a registered voter either by the County Board of Elections or by the school district. The link to a voter registration form for all counties in the state of New York is http://www.elections.ny.gov/NYSBOE/download/voting/voteform.pdf .  County registration forms are also available in the post office and library.  The county registration form must be completed and returned to the county the resident resides in no later than May 5.  


If a resident chooses not to register with the county, they may register with the school district at any school board meeting or during our voter registration sessions.  Our state mandated registration session will be in both the DHR Elementary School and the OESJ Elementary/Middle School on May 7 from 2:30-6:30.  There will be other public registration sessions that have not yet been announced.

Community Focus Group to be Formed

The OESJ Central School District School Board is seeking applicants to serve on a Community Focus Group.  The purpose of the group is to provide representation for all residents, taxpayers and stakeholders of the school district.  The Focus Group will convene with an “outside guest” for a scheduled meeting.  Read the message in its entirety here.

SES Study Team Documents Published

The Oppenheim-Ephratah St. Johnsville Central School District School Board engaged the SES Study team last fall to conduct a comprehensive study of the school district’s finances, economies of scale, an enrollment study and a capacity study.  Read more on the process and the studies, and view the studies in their entirety, here.

Community Meeting Scheduled

There will be a community meeting next Tuesday, March 31st at 6:30 PM in the high school auditorium.


Dr. Paul Seversky will be presenting the results of his findings, "Are there options to the current practice that might provide more effective ways or patterns to organize ow the PreK-12 program is implemented/delivered over the next three years?".


The entire study will be posted on the district website on Wednesday, March 25th. Hard copies of the study will be available at the presentation.

Deadline Approaching to Order High School Yearbooks

The deadline to order a High School Yearbook with personalized name and icon on the cover is Monday, March 30. Paper order forms can be found in the Main Office and should be returned to Mrs. Goderie. Students can also order online through ybpay.lifetouch.com.


Books are $40, and it is $5 extra to add a name, $2 extra for each icon design. An exclusive discount of $5 off is offered for seniors now until March 30th!

OESJ High School Drama Club Performance Scheduled

The OESJ Central High School Drama Club presents “The High Schooler’s Guide to the Galaxy” by Bryan Starchmanon Wednesday and Thursday April 1st and 2nd at 6:30PM in the high school auditorium.


Cast members include Stephanie Arndt, Rebecca Bruce, Alexsandra Dobson, Jack Dudar, Aron Frasier, Amanda Martin, Marissa Nellis, David Rackmyre III, Alix Sowle, Hannah Sowle, Marrina White, Laiken Whittredge and Grace Yezierski.


Tickets are $3.00 and can be purchased at the door.

Middle School Concert and AMPS Chicken Barbecue Scheduled

On Friday, March 27, 2015, the Middle School "Best Selfie" Mash Concert will be performed at the OE Campus at 1:00 P.M. as an assembly, and 6:00 P.M. for the concert.  Prior to the concert, the AMPs will sponsor a Chicken Barbecue in the OE Campus Cafeteria on from 3:00 to 5:30 P.M. while supplies last.  Chicken dinners are $8.50; chicken halves or children’s meals are $6.

D.H. Robbins Elementary Begins “Commit to Be Fit” Month

D.H. Robbins Elementary School “Commit To Be Fit” Wellness Team Initiative during March which is National Nutrition month will focus on nutritious eating and daily physical activity as habits which promote good health. Mohawk Valley FFA Members Earn High Rankings at District Career Development Events
