D.H. Robbins Announces June Students of the Month

The David H. Robbins Elementary School has announced the Students of the Month for March.  The Students of the Month are: Ryan Achzet, Jordan Simzer, Mackenzie Barker, Caroline Littrell, Blake Bergen, and Nataley Caponera.  Teachers nominated students for the Student of the Month Award based on academics and character.

D.H.R. Elementary Awards National and Presidential Physical Fitness Awards

This spring at D.H. Robbins elementary school students took part in working towards awards for fitness during their Physical Education classes. Forty five students achieved either the National award or the Presidential award.  Read the entire story and see pictures here.

OESJ Students Partner with Chamber of Commerce

The Mohawk Valley FFA and Kristy Shafer’s Residential Structures class recently teamed up with the St. Johnsville Chamber of Commerce to construct benches and planters to be placed in town by the St. Johnsville Information Booth.  Read the entire story and see pictures here.

OESJ Commencement Ceremony Scheduled

The OESJ Second Annual Commencement Ceremony will take place on Friday, June 26, 2015, at 6 P.M. in the High School Auditorium. The public is invited to attend.

OESJ Graduation Rehearsal Scheduled

There is a mandatory graduation rehearsal on Thursday, June 25, 2015, at 9 A.M. in the High School Auditorium. Seniors will be given their cap,gown, and tassel prior to the commencement ceremony on Friday at 5 P.M. in the High School Music Room. A letter was sent home to all graduating seniors outlining important details and procedures for graduation.

JV/Varsity Athlete Recognition Scheduled

OESJ CSD will honor its student athletes on Saturday, June 20, 2015, at the Diamond Dawgs game in Little Falls.  All players, coaches, and parents should be there by 6:15.  The Diamond Dawgs will recognize the OESJ teams and awards.  The Athletic Director, Dan Hart, will be at the field by 5:45 to hand out tickets for all athletes, parents, and coaches.  There will be no charge for admission in to the game.

The JV/Varsity Athletic Banquet scheduled for tonight has been postponed due to the tornado watch. A new date will be determined as soon as possible.

NHS Donates and Plants Trees

Several members of the National Honor Society gathered at the high school to plant a korean dwarf lilac, and a flowering crab tree, which were donated by NHS.  The trees are planted by the auditorium entrance.  Pictured are Allexis Brown, Alexis Romeyn, Abby Mosher, Addie Brundage, Seth Bly, Aidan Eggleston and Liam Sammons.

Middle School OESJ Wolf Gang Band Captures "Best in Class" honors at the Sherburne Pageant of Bands

Over the weekend, the OESJ Middle School Wolf Gang Band captured “Best in CLass” honors at the Sherburne Pageant of Bands.  In addition to this top award, the groups earned:

  • 1st Place in Parade

  • 1st Place in Color Guard

  • 1st Place in Small Ensemble

  • 1st Place in Drum line &

  • 3rd Place in Jazz Ensemble


Congratulations to the stellar students and musicians!  A huge thank you also to the school community, parents, and AMPs for your support. You make "our kids" shine!

Assemblyman Santabarbara’s Student Cabinet holds hearing on teacher evaluations

Students from across the 111th Assembly District met at our state Capitol for Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara’s second meeting of his Student Cabinet, which included a hearing on teacher evaluations with testimony from education experts.  Read more on our students’ experience and see pictures here.

Teaching is the Core Grant

As a result of the NYSED Teaching is the Core Grant awarded to the HFM BOCES-led

consortium, our district had the opportunity to review student assessments related to the Annual Professional Performance Review (APPR). Our district assessment review team (D.A.R.T.) which is comprised of teachers and administrators, who have been trained on the assessment review process, reviewed 68 assessments.  For more information, please read the entire article including the action plan here.

2014 - 2015 Sports Banquets Scheduled

The 2014-2015 JV/Varsity Sports Award Banquet will be held on Monday, June 8, 2015, at the High School.  Dinner will start at 5:30, and awards will start at approximately 6:15.  There is no ticket charge for the banquet.


There will also be a Modified Sports Celebration event held on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, from 3 to 5 PM.  This event will take place at the OE Campus.  All modified sports players are invited to attend.

Ponytail Drive a Success in its Seventh Year

Again this year, OESJ CSD held their annual Ponytail Drive, which is now in its seventh year.  This year alone, 21 students, staff members, parents, and community members donated eight inches or more of their hair to Pantene Beautiful Lengths, an organization that gives the resulting wigs out for free to individuals through American Cancer Society branches.  See the entire article, including pictures, here.

On Thursday, May 21, 2015, the OE Campus Elementary Concert and the Middle School Concert will run consecutively. The Elementary Concert will begin at 6:00 PM. Following a short intermission, we will continue with the MS Concert.

On Friday, May 22, 2015, the Middle School and OE Campus Elementary students will participate in the Oppenheim Parade and Rock Ceremony at the OE campus, and proceed into the gymatorium for the Assembly Concert.

Updated: OESJ Announces Official Voting Results

Voters in the Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville Central School District Tuesday, May 19 approved the proposed 2015-16 budget with a final tally of 427-360, and Proposition number 1 was defeated 369-401.

After the Affidavit votes and absentee votes were reviewed by our school attorney, Erin Morris, the following results for the board of education candidates are as follows:

Neil Clark: 395; Jeremy Brundage: 367; Linda Hart: 363; Chad Eggleston: 280; and Art Dockerty: 143.  

Neil Clark and Jeremy Brundage have secured three year terms beginning July 1, 2015.

Girls’ Softball and Boys’ Baseball Sectional Games Announced

The Girls’ Varsity Softball team will play Whitehall at 4:30 on Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at home at the OE Campus field for their first round of sectional games.  The Boys’ Varsity Baseball team will play their first round of sectional games against Lake George/SPA at 4:00 Thursday, May 21, 2015 at home at the St. Johnsville Park.

The OESJ Association for Professionals will host a Meet the OESJ School Board Candidates Night on Monday, May 18, 2015, at 6:30 P.M. in the High School auditorium.

OESJ Teacher Quarterfinalist for the Grammys Music Educator Award

DiAnne Mott has been student nominated, and is now a quarterfinalist for the Grammys Music Educator Award. Out of 4500 nominations in the country, 213 Music Educators have been selected as quarterfinalists.


This multi-step process includes: student nomination, submission of written essays, 2nd round screening and lesson plan ideas. The next and final process will include numerous video essays featuring our students and school community.


The winner of this Award will attend the Grammys in California, and receive a $10,000 grant for their district.

Annual High School Art Show Scheduled

The Annual High School Art Show  will be on display  Monday May 18th- Friday May 22nd, 2015.  Students, Parents and  Community members can view the show during regular school hours.  The faculty and staff will be voting on their favorite work of art.  The top vote getters will receive cash prizes as follows:  1st $ 15.00, 2nd $ 10.00, and 3rd $5.00.  The winners will be announced Friday morning.  More information can be found on the flyer.

Date Set for For Fall 2015 Sports’ Physicals at the High School

Sports physicals will be done at the high school by our school physician, Dr. Julie Perlanski, on Wednesday, May 20.  Please call the high school at 518-568-2011 or the middle school at 518-568-2014 ext. 112 to schedule and appointment as soon as possible.  If you will be a 7-12 grader in the 15-16 school year, please consider having a physical in the event you would like to play sports or obtain a working card. Mohawk Valley FFA members Liam Sammons and Jeff Baker are hatching chickens to raise as their Supervised Agricultural Experience through the FFA.  They will keep records as they grow them into a small entrepreneurship business, and will be eligible for awards next year through this project.

Music Concert Scheduled

The OESJ High School and DHR Elementary Music Dept. present their Spring Concert Wednesday May 13th at 6:00 PM in the high school auditorium. Featured on the program will be the DHR Elementary Choir, DHR Elementary Band, High School Band, High School Choir, Select Choir, Jazz Ensemble, and Handbell Choir.  Each group will be performing a variety of musical selections. The concert is free and open to the public.

OESJ to Hold Budget Hearing and Voter Registration


On Thursday, May 7, the OESJ CSD will hold it's Budget Hearing prior to the regular board of education meeting.  The Budget Hearing will begin at 6:00p.m. in the high school auditorium and the regular board of education meeting will follow.  


Also, on Thursday there will be voter registration at both the DHR and the OESJ Elementary/Middle School buildings from 2:30-6:30 p.m..  Anyone who is not sure if they are registered to vote, may stop by either building on Thursday or they may call the District Clerk at 518-568-2014, ext. 104 or by emailing her at anna.oconnell@oesj.org to double check.
