The 2014-2015 JV/Varsity Sports Award Banquet will be held on Monday, June 8, 2015, at the High School. Dinner will start at 5:30, and awards will start at approximately 6:15. There is no ticket charge for the banquet.
Again this year, OESJ CSD held their annual Ponytail Drive, which is now in its seventh year. This year alone, 21 students, staff members, parents, and community members donated eight inches or more of their hair to Pantene Beautiful Lengths, an organization that gives the resulting wigs out for free to individuals through American Cancer Society branches. Ninth Grade Orientation to be Rescheduled
The 9th grade orientation originally scheduled for May 27, 2015, has been postponed to late August 2015. A notice will be mailed home when a date has been set.

Parent Assessment Session Scheduled

Girls’ Softball Sectional Game Scheduled
The OESJ Girls’ Varsity Softball team will play their next sectional game Friday, May 22, 2015, at Maple Hill with a 4:30 start time. The address is 1216 Maple Hill Road, Castleton-on-Hudson, New York, 12033.
OE Campus Concerts Announced
On Thursday, May 21, 2015, the OE Campus Elementary Concert and the Middle School Concert will run consecutively. The Elementary Concert will begin at 6:00 PM. Following a short intermission, we will continue with the MS Concert.
Annual Memorial Day Celebration Announced
On Friday, May 22, 2015, the Middle School and OE Campus Elementary students will participate in the Oppenheim Parade and Rock Ceremony at the OE campus, and proceed into the gymatorium for the Assembly Concert.
Updated: OESJ Announces Official Voting Results
Voters in the Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville Central School District Tuesday, May 19 approved the proposed 2015-16 budget with a final tally of 427-360, and Proposition number 1 was defeated 369-401.
After the Affidavit votes and absentee votes were reviewed by our school attorney, Erin Morris, the following results for the board of education candidates are as follows:
Neil Clark: 395; Jeremy Brundage: 367; Linda Hart: 363; Chad Eggleston: 280; and Art Dockerty: 143.
Neil Clark and Jeremy Brundage have secured three year terms beginning July 1, 2015.
OESJ CSD Budget and Board of Education Vote Today
Voting at both the DHR Elementary School Gym and the OESJ E/M School Gym will begin at noon today, May 19th and end at 8 P.M. Results will be posted on the website as soon as possible.
Girls’ Softball and Boys’ Baseball Sectional Games Announced
The Girls’ Varsity Softball team will play Whitehall at 4:30 on Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at home at the OE Campus field for their first round of sectional games. The Boys’ Varsity Baseball team will play their first round of sectional games against Lake George/SPA at 4:00 Thursday, May 21, 2015 at home at the St. Johnsville Park.
“Meet the OESJ School Board Candidates Night” Scheduled
The OESJ Association for Professionals will host a Meet the OESJ School Board Candidates Night on Monday, May 18, 2015, at 6:30 P.M. in the High School auditorium.
OESJ Teacher Quarterfinalist for the Grammys Music Educator Award
DiAnne Mott has been student nominated, and is now a quarterfinalist for the Grammys Music Educator Award. Out of 4500 nominations in the country, 213 Music Educators have been selected as quarterfinalists.
This multi-step process includes: student nomination, submission of written essays, 2nd round screening and lesson plan ideas. The next and final process will include numerous video essays featuring our students and school community.
Board of Education Finance Committee Meeting Tentatively Scheduled
The OESJ BOE Finance Committee has tentatively scheduled a meeting for Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at 6:30 P.M. in the OE Campus library.
Annual High School Art Show Scheduled
The Annual High School Art Show will be on display Monday May 18th- Friday May 22nd, 2015. Students, Parents and Community members can view the show during regular school hours. The faculty and staff will be voting on their favorite work of art. The top vote getters will receive cash prizes as follows: 1st $ 15.00, 2nd $ 10.00, and 3rd $5.00. Date Set for For Fall 2015 Sports’ Physicals at the High School
Sports physicals will be done at the high school by our school physician, Dr. Julie Perlanski, on Wednesday, May 20. Please call the high school at 518-568-2011 or the middle school at 518-568-2014 ext. 112 to schedule and appointment as soon as possible. If you will be a 7-12 grader in the 15-16 school year, please consider having a physical in the event you would like to play sports or obtain a working card. If you have questions, please call us immediately.

Board of Education to Hold Special Meeting
The OESJ BOE will hold a Special Board Meeting Thursday, May 14th, 2015. The board will be in executive session at 6 P.M. to interview individuals to provide legal services for the board. The meeting will be in the High School library.
National Junior Honor Society Induction Announced
The OESJ National Junior Honor Society Induction Ceremony will be held on May 28, 2015, at 6:30 P.M. in the cafetorium at the O-E campus. Congratulations to the 28 students who will be inducted.
2015 Ponytail Drive Scheduled
This year’s Ponytail Drive will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2015, from 3:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in the OE Campus Cafeteria. All are welcome to donate. See the flyer for more information on how to sign up!
Let the hatching begin!
Mohawk Valley FFA members Liam Sammons and Jeff Baker are hatching chickens to raise as their Supervised Agricultural Experience through the FFA. They will keep records as they grow them into a small entrepreneurship business, and will be eligible for awards next year through this project.
Music Concert Scheduled
The OESJ High School and DHR Elementary Music Dept. present their Spring Concert Wednesday May 13th at 6:00 PM in the high school auditorium. Featured on the program will be the DHR Elementary Choir, DHR Elementary Band, High School Band, High School Choir, Select Choir, Jazz Ensemble, and Handbell Choir. Each group will be performing a variety of musical selections. The concert is free and open to the public.

OESJ to Hold Budget Hearing and Voter Registration
On Thursday, May 7, the OESJ CSD will hold it's Budget Hearing prior to the regular board of education meeting. The Budget Hearing will begin at 6:00p.m. in the high school auditorium and the regular board of education meeting will follow.
Also, on Thursday there will be voter registration at both the DHR and the OESJ Elementary/Middle School buildings from 2:30-6:30 p.m.. Anyone who is not sure if they are registered to vote, may stop by either building on Thursday or they may call the District Clerk at 518-568-2014, ext. 104 or by emailing her at firstname.lastname@example.org to double check.

Modified Sports Team Volunteers Their TimeLast weekend, the OESJ Boys’ Modified Baseball team along with the St. Johnsville Youth Center and the Montgomery County Division of Youth volunteered their time raking and cleaning the yards of our local WWII Veterans.

OESJ High School Student Receives Honor
Kyle Raux has been accepted into the Business and Marketing Honor Society of New York State. Kyle has demonstrated outstanding achievement during his high school academic career in Business Education by taking five business classes and achieving an overall GPA of approximately 89 in those courses. Kyle has shown character, service, and leadership through school store activities and responsibilities.
Kyle also received the Business Math award last year and will be recognized in May as the Outstanding Business Education Student at the Business & Marketing Educators Association Student Awards Dinner in Albany.
OESJ Elementary “Dives into Reading”
Students in grades PK-5 at the OE campus kicked off their PARP program on March 2. The theme this year was “Dive into Reading”. The elementary hallways were decorated as if you were swimming underwater. Read the entire story, including pictures, here.
