Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville BOE announces superintendent finalists

The Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville Central School District Board of Education has announced three finalists in its search for a new superintendent of schools. As part of the final stages of the selection process, each candidate will meet community members at a public forum and have a chance to talk about his background, leadership qualifications and his approach to education in a small, rural setting. First Annual OESJ Alumni Basketball Game Scheduled

The First Annual OESJ Alumni Basketball Game will be held on February 21, 2015 at 5:00 in the OESJ High School gym. The game is open to all OESJ, OE, and St. Johnsville alumni, with games for men and women, under 30 and over 30.  The cost to play is $15 per person, which will cover a t-shirt for the game.  Proceeds will be donated to the OESJ Baseball and Softball programs.  If you are interested in playing, contact Darin Lynch or Dan Hart.

Leadership Education Remains Priority for New York High School Agriculture Programs

More than 550 middle and high school students from around New York state, gathered at the Embassy Suites hotel in Syracuse from January 24 – 25, 2015, for an intensive leadership conference. 7 members of the Mohawk Valley FFA attended the two day conference. Read more on their experiences here.

Spelling Bee to be Held Wednesday, January 28, 2015

A Spelling Bee will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 in the High School Auditorium starting at 9 A.M.  Representatives from grades four through eight will be competing, with all students in grades three through eight from both the D.H. Robbins Elementary School and the Oppenheim Campus in attendance.  Community members are welcome to attend.

If needed, a snow date of Thursday, January 29, 2015 at the same time and location has been scheduled.

OESJ Board of Education Scheduled to Meet

The OESJ Board of Education will meet Thursday, January 29, 2015, at 6 P.M. in the OE Campus Cafeteria for an open discussion and work session.

The Board of Education will conduct an open discussion regarding the recommendations made as part of the school lunch study that was distributed to the Board of Education in December.  The study is posted on the district’s website 

here along with addenda to the study.   The public’s input will be welcome and action may be taken following the discussion.

The Board’s regular work session will immediately follow the school lunch discussion.  The public is welcome to attend but no public participation is scheduled for the board’s work session.  No board action is anticipated during the School Board’s work session.  The agenda for the work session can be viewed here.

OESJ High School Announces Regents Week Schedule

Monday, January 26, 2015 through Thursday, January 29, 2015, there will be no regular classes for high school students. Students will be picked up on the morning bus run for both AM and PM Regents Exams. Students who have an afternoon exam will be able to work on school work, study, or relax in the library in the morning while waiting for their exam to begin.  Buses will make an early afternoon run to deliver students home from the AM exams. Afternoon exams start at 12:15. Any student not riding in on the AM bus run for an afternoon exam needs to be at school by 12:00. There will be a 4:00 bus run each day for students who need a ride home from the PM exams.  Regular classes will resume on Friday, January 30, 2015.

Small engine students get real work experiences with Hulten Speed Sports and Briggs and Stratton

Ally Pereira Scheduled to Speak to OESJ Middle and High School Students

Ally will be visiting our district on January 30, 2015, to talk to our high school and middle school students about sexting and the effects it has on students and the entire school community.   Along will Ms.Pereira, there will be a New York State trooper included in the discussions.  For more information, click here.

OESJ Ski Club Sign Up Information

Ski Club will be starting it's first session at Royal Mountain on Wednesday, January 28, 2015. The cost is $10 for a lift ticket and $5 for equipment rentals. Forms are available here, or can be picked up at the main office of any of the three buildings, and must be returned by Tuesday, January 27, 2015.

OESJ CSD to Host Active Parenting Now Workshops

In the months of February and March, Catholic Charities will be hosting a series of workshops at both the D.H. Robbins Elementary and Oppenheim Campus for parents of students aged 5 - 12.  According to the flyer, "this entertaining and informative program uses video, activities and discussion to show you ways to raise responsible, cooperative children who are able to resist negative peer pressure."  Find more information, including how to register, dates, and times, here.
